Call for Artists: River Crossings
Deadline: 31st Aug

The gallery sits right next to the River Tyne in the town of Haddington and it is a site of great ecological interest and importance for the region. Not only this, but the river itself marks a social division in the town which was created during the 1960s when the Glasgow overspill were uprooted from the Gorbals and placed in towns in the region, with no attempt made at creating social cohesion. This town planning scheme effected communities across Glasgow, the Scottish Borders and the Lothians. The gallery will be using the river site for a number of projects over the coming months, of which this is the first.

We are now looking for an artist to contribute to an extraordinary project this autumn, which will engage with the ecology of the river while also working with residents of the town. The commission of £2000 will cover a solo exhibition in the gallery for the duration of the project. There is also money for fully paid workshop onsite working and engagement on Saturdays and a materials budget in addition to this fee.

Please apply with a one-page project proposal, C.V. and up to five images of previous work to the email address below. Links to webpages also welcome.
